This is the oldest brewery in Yorkshire.
It was built in 1758 and is currently owned by John Smith Breweries.
It was originally the site of brother Sam Smith's brewery, and still makes Sam Smith's Old Brewery Bitter and John Smith's 'Magnet', a fine beer.
The town of Tadcaster, sadly, no longer has a railway. But there is a good bus service on the 'Coastliner' which runs from Leeds to all points up to the coastal resorts of Filey, Bridlington and Whitby. The buses are comfortable, fast and cheap.
Scarborough still has the train, but if you wanted to go to both, you could get to Tadcaster on the bus, continue up to Malton and catch the train there.
These facts are important, as there are a lot of pubs in Tadcaster.
You see, on the other side of town is a Coors-owned brewery.

Not true, I'm afraid.
The building in your picture is indeed John Smith's brewery, Tadcaster, but it is not the oldest brewery in Yorkshire, was not built in 1758, and most certainly does not make Sam Smith's OBB. In fact, John Smith's as a brand, and their Tadcaster brewery, is owned by brewing multinational Scottish and Newcastle, responsible for such traditional Yorkshire brews as Kronenbourg, Foster's, and Miller.
About a quarter of a mile away, right in the heart of the town centre, you will find Sam Smith's Old Brewery (which was established in 1758), a wholly separate entity from its multinational neighbour, still owned by the (original) Smith family, and responsible for the glorious Old Brewery Bitter and a host of other beery delights.
